Beaglebone Black Boot Failure after update

Postby dostoevsky » Wed May 20, 2015 2:18 am

So I was able to setup Arch on my Beaglebone with no real problems.
I used it for a few months without issue.
Recently I did a standard update with pacman and there seemed to be no issues.
However, after trying to reboot, all I get is that dumb penguin in the corner of my screen.

I can now boot without issue off the original SD card I used for the install.
I can mount the internal memory and access the root file structure.

Does anyone have any suggestions?
I imagine I may be able to chroot into the file system and correct the problem, but I just don't know where to start.
I'm lost without grub.
Help!

Linux kernel image was upgraded during this month.
You may previously be using linux-am33x-legacy (only verson fully functional for bbb with gpio and so on), upgraded now to linux-ti-3.14.43-1 that comes from official bbb linux kernel github

I'll be interesting to me if you can confirm that is the cause of your problem, chrooting your internal mmc install that's not booting and downgrading your kernel image with this one :
http://fraggod.net/static/mirror/packag ... pkg.tar.xz

I personnaly block the upgrade, since my bbb isn't easily accessible physicaly, and wait to be sure it will not break mine
