[SOLVED] BBB revC arch linux installation to microSD

Postby kchalas » Wed Jul 15, 2015 9:47 am

Hello,

Could someone walk me through the process of installing Arch Linux on a BBB, specifically part 6?
According to the guide http://archlinuxarm.org/platforms/armv7/ti/beaglebone-black, there is no boot partition created.
I think the need of a boot partition is replaced by this two lines:
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'dd if=mnt/boot/MLO of=/dev/sdX count=1 seek=1 conv=notrunc bs=128k
dd if=mnt/boot/u-boot.img of=/dev/sdX count=2 seek=1 conv=notrunc bs=384k')

Can someone explain me exactly what happens in these two lines? Do I need to change something on the eMMC in order for it to work?
Unfortunately, I followed the guide, but the boot process does not seem to work correctly, therefore I can't boot from the SD card.

Thanks!

Alright, i was able to fix my problem by flashing the on board eMMC with a newer image and than repeating the installation process. My guess is that the problem occured during the 1st stage of the boot process but correct me if i am wrong.

Thanks!
