Ports of the GCC compiler

Postby naums » Sun Jun 17, 2018 5:20 pm

Hello.

I would like to request ports of the GCC cross compilers, especially the default x86 one, as well as arm-none-eabi. I would like to do some OS-development work, so these compilers would be appreciated.

Regards

You can probably use the pkgbuild from mainline eg:

https://git.archlinux.org/svntogit/community.git/tree/trunk/PKGBUILD?h=packages/arm-none-eabi-gcc

But note its still links with newlib.

What confuses me though is why you would want to cross compile on an arm machine. especially for x86. Arm is often embedded, whereas x86 is desktop, and developing thing is easier on the desktop.

In the arm world, gcc usually can compile for several architectures, e.g. the cross compiler I build for armv7, I think compiled armv6 code as well.
