Is there any particular reason why this gcc component was left out for ARM?
GCC optimizes a lot better in many cases, and frankly I desperately need this one

It's failed to build quite repetitively. If you would like to attempt adding it back, please, feel free to give it a shot.

I would have been in gcc
https://github.com/archlinuxarm/PKGBUILDs/tree/master/core/gcc
There because PKGBUILD is one of few altered from arm
Other for x86 is in abs
https://projects.archlinux.org/svntogit/packages.git/tree/trunk?h=packages/gcc
