Pogoplug, dvd drive and archlinux

Newbie here. I've been trying to find an answer to this for a few days. Out of the box, pogoplug doesn't support usb dvd drives. Does anyone know if that's just a software limitation and installing archlinux to it will allow me to use the pogoplug to share the content on dvd discs over my lan?
