GoFlex Net update lose network connectivity

Long long story short, I have two GoFlex Nets. I updated the system (according to the install instructions) and lose network connectivity. I reloaded the OS and everything was working. Left it on over night and lost connectivity again. The network port doesn't blink now, even on reboot. It's not simply that the device isn't getting assigned an IP from DHCP, it seems that the network port is not up.

Is there anything in the OS that would cause this, maybe a configuration? I'm going to try reinstalling and seeing if that works. It is also possible that the hardware failed. Can anyone provide some insight?

FYI... the OS is located on the SATA drive.
