Reset GoFlex Home to Stock Firmware

Postby baigner » Sun Jul 08, 2012 1:12 pm

Hello

I've got again some troubles with my GoFlex Home.
It won't boot into the arch linux since a few days, there is only the yellow led blinking on the front of the device.

I want to go back to the stock firmware from seagate, but it's not possible because the reset button isn't working.
If I remove the HD from the Doc it also won't come up again.
I can't reach it in my network.

So please give me some instructions to rescue my Plug!

Thanks!

Well I followed the steps in the thread you told me and started my go flex device with a usb drive.
on my router i can see the device by hostname "alarm" and IP 10.0.0.5, but I cannot access it by ssh.

What can I do now?

I've done exactly the same thing. I can see the Goflex Home and its ip and its name (alarm.home) but can not ssh to it.

The trick is to make, from any other Linux machine, an ext3 USB key, labeled "rootfs" with Archlinux ARM (alarm) on it and to boot with the USB key without the harddisk.

After the boot, insert the harddisk, do a moprobe sata_mv, then you can see the harddrive (blkid) mount it and reinstall alarm on it.

You should use search.

Keywords: netconsole, rootfs, linux live cd.

In short: diagnose with netconsole, then you will probably need to use linux live cd/linux installation to extract rootfs tarball using a regular PC to the hard drive/usb stick.

I don't mean to be rude but there are many topics about exactly the same problem with resolution. It gets old repeating the same thing over and over

well, now i can access my goflex home.

I started it up by the USB pen with the inserted HD drive and it worked.

What I want to do now is to install the original Seagate System.
I know that the Reset button of the Dock is deactivated by the arch system.
So can anybody help me to reinstall my GoFlex device?

Thanks!

It isn't deactivated, you just have a completely different OS installed so it doesn't work. Reset button resets the stock OS settings, but does not reflash the whole operating system.

I suppose you need this:
