If you switch to ext4 and BFQ I/O scheduler you will see the speeds will improve a lot.

Where is the kernel parameters file located on the PPv4?

There's no file. You have to pass elevator=bfq to kernel when it starts, so you either need to mess with U-Boot. Or activate it in a running system: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Li ... devices.29

I tried using netatalk (AFP) and I was able to get 128MB/s read speed, write speed was ~4.5MB/s. I did noticed that with BFQ I/O scheduler enabled I was getting about +1MB/s better all around.
