Call me BrickmasterB...

After having a bit of fun with my PP4, I bought a 2nd to poke at without worrying so much about the potential for bricking it (yes, I have a usb ttl adapter after the 1st one  ). Well, I have succeeded in locking myself out of yet another one.

I activated the PP4, sshed in, plugged in a sata drive, and ran through the install procedure. Everything went fine- it rebooted and loaded everything from the sata drive. I did a system update, which was also ok. At this point, I did a "pacman -Sy linux-kirkwood linux-headers-kirkwood". Everything went fine, no error messages. So I rebooted. Unlike PP4 #1 (which I also upgraded to kirkwood but instead boot from usb), when it rebooted it never got to a useable state.

Now, when have the sata drive attached and supply power, The LED blinks green and then goes solid green. And... that's it. No IP, nothing. I figured rather than tearing it down to attach the usb ttl to the console, I'd start with a 'revert'. It did revert. When I rebooted the reverted box, SSH was still listening. So I SSHed in, and ran through the install process again, thinking I'd come back to kirkwood on this PP4 later. Well, now it won't even boot the stock 3.1.x kernel build.

I know it's reading the drive- I can hear it thrashing around for 5-10 seconds before going quiet. I'm wondering at this point what could I look at short of console (which I have to wait for since I loaned it out)? If I revert and boot into the stock PP4 firmware, is there anything I can do in there to diagnose this?

Thanks,
BB
