Install minidlna via IPKG

Postby nextbond » Sun Dec 30, 2012 3:48 am

I ran the following command on my Pogoplug series 4 after connecting to it via SSH as root:

ipkg install minidlna

it downloaded the package and installed several libraries and ended successfully. However I do not know what to do next.
Where is the config file stored and how do i startup the minidlna daemon/server ?

Thanks

why using ipkg, not pacman? any way, follow this wiki:
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/MiniDLNA')

BTW, how to add codec support for minidlna? I saw many of my video files are skipped in the db, and I assume that is because minidlna does not recognize the codec?

IPKG is optware. Likely it will be in /opt/etc/minidlna.conf, however you are in the wrong forum to be asking questions about optware. This is an archlinuxarm forum.

On the pogoplug V3 Basic, I have found that I can have both arch and optware to fill in for packages that do not yet exist on arch. Since the kernel for the V3 is so "old" it seems to work fine. It did not work on a pogoplug V2 with the newer kernels installed.
e.g. my favorite editor, jed. (only because I started using it in 1988).

So now, when I want to install I first try pacman -S package.
If it doesn't find anything then I use /opt/bin/ipkg install package.

Unlike the normal optware, I put the /opt parts last in my path, not first.

There really is no point in using optware as if the package is not in the repo, you can easily get a PKGBUILD (or even easier, just use yaourt) for it and then compile.

https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/jed/

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'yaourt -Sy jed')
