Mediatomb autostart & automount ext USB

Postby chappatti » Tue Jan 22, 2013 1:21 am

As a senior-newbie ;) ;) (I have some perfunctory Unix eperience), I have spent almost a month to solve some issues with my pogoplug E02 and Archlinux install of mediatomb.

1. I cannot for the life of me figure how to run mediatomb properly in daemon mode. In the console mode I can nicely start mediatomb, add music and play on XBMC. However, I have to keep terminal open running in console mode. How do I enable the daemon mode using systemd? Please I need hand-holding with copy-paste commands since my brain is fired !!!!! Remember the latest Archlinux uses systemd.....

2. How do I mount the external USB with my music automatically all the time?

3. How do I get mediatomb to use remember the database across reboots?

4. How do I automate all of this stuff????????????

Many thanks and blessings to any helper !!!!!

I don't use mediatomb myself, but here's a couple of generic pointer

1. You can run screen, then run your commands there. If you disconnect everything will keep running until reboot.
Have you tried "systemctl start mediatomb" and "systemctl enable mediatomb" ?

2. Did you read through the automounting sticky thread? The anser: viewtopic.php?f=18&t=4376&start=10#p24167

3. Don't know

4. Create a script and run it at boot? or if possible configure (i.e. use config foles for mediatomb) mediatomb the way you want it to be run?
