[SOLVED]Recovering GFN from corrupted USB flash

Postby bzboi » Tue Feb 05, 2013 11:39 pm

Hi folks,
It's been a while since my forays into Dockstar JTAG so pardon me if I don't recognize the faces around here. I have a GoFlex Net that was probably last used a year ago that I've been trying to get back up and running. For some reason, I'm no longer able to access the USB flash that I used before. I created a new USB flash using a live Kubuntu DVD and the latest ARMv5 image at http://archlinuxarm.org/os/ArchLinuxARM ... est.tar.gz

However, I am still unable to boot to the new flash drive, and am attaching my log below. I suspect that kernel revisions or some other software change might have evolved to a point that I might need to upgrade to a new UBIT. Unfortunately I don't have a functioning Rescue System on the GFN, so that's easier said than done. I am not opposed to restoring the GFN back to stock so I can use one of the more recent guides, but just wanted to see if there was a quick fix here.

If all else fails, I'm hoping someone can point me to the stock GFN uBoot/RFS images so I can figure out how to get it back via JTAG. TIA!

Actually, looking over my log, I suspect I'd used ext2 previously and the new USB flash is formatted to ext3. Hopefully that's the only issue here!

Your uBoot/UBIT seems fine. But it complains about your partitioning of the drive. It has always been ext3 for GoFlex AFAIK. So repartition it, reformat and try again. Follow the link in my signature if unsure. The important part is to use "sudo su" to get permissions right and label the drive rootfs if you have ubit.

Redid the USB flash and it works now. What made the difference was the sudo su step. Thanks.
