U-Boot modifications

Postby UnfunnyBunnies » Tue Feb 19, 2013 4:19 am

I had a spare SSD lying around and I thought I could throw it in my PogoplugV4. Since TRIM only works in ext4, I'm trying to do a clean install of ALARM on two different partitions. I tried following the instructions HERE but I have no idea how to modify U-Boot. I've searched on the forums but I still have no clue. Is there a guide somewhere out there that I missed?

You need to install uboot-env first, before those are available.

Something you should be aware of when I used fw_setenv I ended creating a situation where, when I rebooted after making the u-boot modifications, I ended up back at the stock PogoPlug OS. I had to redownload ppv4-install.sh
modified it with the modifications necessary for two partition booting and re-ran it. Take a look at the thread where I modified the uboot for dual ext3/ext4 partition on the PPv4: viewtopic.php?f=18&t=4519.

I have not used it but maybe blparam would work better, pogoplug-blparam package.

Exactly, don't use fw_env tools on Pogoplug V4 ALARM uBoot version. Use blparam to ensure the integrity of your uBoot envs.
