If not, then there's something wrong with your hardware: cables, switch, router.

tedm had a wrong config file setup, the last line needs to go in /etc/security/limits.conf , not in samba.conf

I would highly doubt the router and I think it is a file system and drivers issue, because it takes a while to start and it keeps telling calculating the time required to copy.

I dont remember seeing this problem with Linux fle systems.

I fixed mine, its a problem with SAMBA config in the global sections, I copied mine from Samba Newb Help required thread.

im not sure what was the problem with mine. i re installed everything and now its working. thank you everyone.
