aerofs command line interface guide?

Postby lamenramen » Sat Mar 30, 2013 6:11 am

Hi, I have the veritable pogoplug 2 and would like to use aerofs.

I have downloaded the latest version and I'm getting all kinds of java errors.

Can someone please put together a how-to guide for us? The more detail the better, but any info is better, even if it's just "it's possible and it works".

thank you!

Do they (aerofs) have a wiki? I've never even heard of it

I believe that you will hear of it very soon. It is a dropbox competitor and it is free. I like it alot and so do many people.
It's basically a peer to peer file sharing system. That is, macbook pro has an aerofs folder, and macbook air has one too. All changes are synced between them. The downside is you need to have a third laptop or in my case pogoplug as well, which is always on, if you wish to functionally replicate a central server. Or maybe you keep your macbook pro or air on all the time, in which case 2 is good enough.

There is owncloud, but I've found that to be very slow and chock full of conflicts. Aerofs is likely the future b/c it's totally free and there's no limit to the storage.
