PulseAudio Setup

Postby grayman4hire » Mon Apr 22, 2013 5:21 pm

Hello,

I'm looking for some instructions for setting up PulseAudio on my PogoPlug E02.

Yeah, I know there's the Arch wiki - https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/PulseAudio, but I'm looking for some simplier/easy to follow tutorial.

The main problem I'm trying to resolve is I have a cheap USB Audio card (chipset 6911) that only works at 48000 Mhz. I'm trying to get my audio to be correctly resampled to 48000 Mhz.

Basically the problem @pepedog described in this thread (which he solved by switching to usb speakers):
viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1023&hilit=48000&start=10#p6198

It seems like the simplest solution is to install PulseAudio and have it resample the audio for me before sending it to ALSA.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks

i think alsa can do resampling itself with the dmix plugin. The main problem is that either alsa or pa plugin need an fpu, which is absent and the emulator is slow. Havwnt tried it myself though. Pa should be simpler to setup, but may add cpu overhead which you really dont need given the cpu will struggle as is. im not aware of any apecific guide.
