Using Windows to backup the USB drive running ArchLinux

Postby permitivity » Mon Apr 29, 2013 2:57 am

Hi,
I have Arch running on a Pogoplug. I'd like to backup the USB drive on another USB drive in such a way that I can just pop in the other USB drive on the Pogoplug and have it boot up and run right away.

I've seen posts suggesting the use of rsync, but it seems to require another Linux computer, or another Pogoplug that isn't running on the flash drive you're trying to copy from. Is there a way to replicate a bootable USB drive with a Windows computer?

Thanks,
Eric

Did you try EaseUS Partition Master?

Or use the dd command line tool:

You could also boot the Windows PC with one of the Linux live distros and use rsync

Oh, I've used EaseUS for recovery before. I didn't know their partition tool could do disk copy. I'll try it, thanks.
