Install issue

Postby snoturtle » Thu Aug 22, 2013 2:28 am

Hi all :)

Just recieved my E02 Pogoplug today and am having some issues
I followed the install instructions here http://blog.qnology.com/2013/03/tutoria ... linux.html

At first was having an issue where it would hang after the first reboot
After re-installing multiple times it made it past that
I tried both flash drive and a usb hard drive
Not sure what changed as I was just copying and pasting

Either way I can now get past the first reboot but now can't get past the second one :(

I go through the second part of the install without getting any errors but when it is time to reboot the pogoplug never comes back to allow ssh connections

On my last install attempt I did follow the instructions here viewtopic.php?f=53&t=5977&start=30#p33984 to edit the /etc/dhcpcd.conf file but that doesn't seem to have helped

When I tried fw_setenv ethaddr <mac> I got an error about ethaddr
Will try again and get exact error

Tried again and it says Can't overwrite "ethaddr"

Anything I am missing?
This seems like it should be easy/straight forward but it seems that is not the case :(

Went through and trying install again
Removed the DHCP reservation on my router and am now running into another issue
Everytime I reboot the unit it is getting a new IP address
Right now my router lists 3 pogoplugs all with the same MAC address but with 3 different IP's

Try skipping the "fw_setenv bootcmd" command.

Also try unplugging the power and replugging the power versus a reboot.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '
sync
poweroff
')

unplug/replug

Tried that and when I tell it to poweroff instead of reboot this is what happens

SSH disconnects with an error "The semaphore timeout period has expired"
Light on unit stays on

This also happened before when I would try reboot

The light staying on when issuing a "poweroff" is normal. Not sure about the semaphore message though.

moonman just pointed out a issue a recent kernel that has been resolved.

I would suggest starting over from scratch again (making sure to reset the uboot setting to default).

Did you try to reboot your router or actually unplugging and replugging in the power on your router?
