GoflexNet cannot boot new kernel ?

Postby tomcheng76 » Thu Sep 12, 2013 2:57 am

Hi,
My uboot version is davygravy-2012-04-19-current (verified by install_uboot_mtd0.sh)
when i install linux-kirkwood (which also updates linux-headers-kirkwood)
Reboot fails...
Sorry i don't have time to play with netconsole again
Is davygravy-2012-04-19-current L2 cache disabled?
Revert back to linux package works
Here is my fw_printenv

Davygravy's u-boot works fine. I use it and linux-kirkwood works fine here.
Are you using ext2 for boot? because that's what it expects. where did you get this environment?

the rootfs is on the sata drive (1st slot)
Sadly, there isn't separate boot partition, so it is ext3..
the fwenv setting is modified from defaults after flashing the uboot using http://projects.doozan.com/uboot/install_uboot_mtd0.sh sometimes ago, so that it boots to sata even a usb external drive is attached (there was a problem with the usb boot first setting) . Also it will boot to rescue system if no drive is attached.

Will this pogoplug services affect ? i installed it.

The service won't affect the boot. I would try setting usb_rootfstype to ext3. From what I see this same variable is used for sata and usb boot. If it doesn't work I would need to see a netconsole log.

I will try to test it on this weekend, thanks =)
One thing to notice is that i still get a green led light but unable to SSH
May be the kernel loads but system cannot startup, strange that 3.1 kernel works though
