Any Front End GUI for ALARM on NSA325?

Postby SomeoneOnLine » Tue Oct 29, 2013 8:04 pm

So iv been playing with my NSA325 and ALARM the last week or 2 and have learned a lot. Since the NSA325 is a NAS and not a desktop style machine there is no physical display for me to interface with the OS other than via SSH which is OK and all.

So my question is there anyway to install KDE or GNOME or XFCE as a desktop and RDP or VNC to the nsa or something simular? Im just looking for a graphical front end I can use to manage the OS. Currently I am using webmin but a lot of webmin does not work. I see that there are KDE and XFCE packages in pacman but not sure how to connect to a remote session.

You can try x11vnc and lxde. There isn't much you can do using DE in terms of configuration, you still need to edit files etc. Ajenti works well but you need to get it from aur, and openjre seems broken and is require to build ajenti.
