Pogoplug static IP

Postby everphilski » Wed Jan 15, 2014 6:33 pm

Folks,

I have ALARM installed. Say I set up a static IP configuration that is bad - can't SSH to the box.

I know I could use the serial cable. Alternatively, I can always pull out the drive, mount it on another machine and tweak config files. Is there a way to do that without netctl on the other machine? I know where the profiles are:

/etc/netctl/eth0STATIC
/etc/netctl/eth0DYNAMIC

the latter being a 'known-good' configuration. Is there a way to switch to eth0DYNAMIC without having access to netctl?

thanks,

philip

You don't need to touch netctl or systemctl commands
Just make sure there is only one profile where the Interface=eth0 is that way
Ie systemctl netctl-ifplugd@eth0 is scanning all profiles looking for that line

OK, so it will pick up changes made to /etc/netctl/eth0 on reboot even if its was changed without running "netctl enable eth0"?

thank you sir!

If you have access right on your network administration, you can always set DHCP reservation base on the pogoplug MAC address instead of having a failed static IP problem

Set it in your dhcp server (most like your router) :)

Yup, no DHCP reservation on the router, but I was able to nuke all but the eth0 profile and get static IP working there. Thanks everyone for the help! -philip
