Hi all
I've really enjoyed using the pogoplug with ALARM for the past few months, it sits in the corner collecting media and throwing it at several raspbmcs. My wife can quickly and easily put on a sesame street for my daughter, and my dad can watch his old John Wayne movies whenever he comes over.
What I'm looking for is a simple way for them to share that media, or take it to other machines. I'm happy enough to scp files to my laptop, or ssh in and cp a file to a usb stick to share with a friend. But these aren't exactly friendly methods for the non-techies. Samba is causing many headaches for me on my wife's Mac, and she'd really like to be able to hand her friend a stick full of Real Housewives of Wherever.
I realize there are tradeoffs in using the plug vs a laptop, or anything with a screen, but has anyone got a relatively GUI method of making their files portable? VNC might be acceptable, but I would probably have to leave a laptop logged in to make it attractive, and I have to think that would put a serious strain on the plug.
Current thought is to grab a super cheap windows laptop with its own big hdd and have it sync regularly, but that seems like quite a waste.
Thanks for any thoughts.
