Zyxel NSA325v2 - Wake on LAN and autopoweron not working

Postby manallu » Sun May 25, 2014 4:08 pm

Hi to all,
I've installed Arch Linux on my NSA325v2 following official tutorial (http://archlinuxarm.org/platforms/armv5/zyxel-nsa325) and everything was ok. My version is now
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'Linux nsa325v2 3.14.4-1-ARCH #1 PREEMPT Thu May 15 19:38:21 MDT 2014 armv5tel GNU/Linux')

I'm now testing WOL and autopoweron after power outage, but with no success.

About WOL: I followed the arch wiki tutorial, set g mode on eth0 (even if it's alredy set after boot), shutdown the NSA and issued the "wakeonlan" command from a couple of linux boxes. Result: the green led of NSA's nic keeps flashing, but nothing happens.

About autopoweron: I can't find the right gpio's settings. I googled a lot, I both tried gpio 47, 49 (from a NSA320 guide) and 37 (from a NSA325 guide), but all I get are either "access denied" messages for 37-49 or no effect for 47.

I kept searching the web and read lots of sources, but I can't figure it out.

Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks,
manallu

OK, WOL is working! tbh it wasn't broken at all.

I noticed that using the destination IP address in the 'wol' command (together with MAC) was rarely successful.
So i started using the MAC address only and now my NSA always wakes up at the first call.

About autopoweron I'm still investigating. So far I'm reading some interesting docs linked on github ( https://github.com/pkirchhofer/nsa325-kernel/wiki) documenting the Marvell platform.

That wiki is mostly accurate, with regards to commands and configs. You probably don't want to be using shutdown, but `systemctl poweroff`

Thanks WarheadsSE for your feedback

you're right, I should probably use "systemctl poweroff" instead of "shutdown -h now", but I'm used to the latter.
Since ACPI is enabled, I suppose the NSA is smart enough to automatically call poweroff.

Anyway, whatever method I use, the wol command in the form "wol xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx" is working properly.

Do you have any advice about the autopoweron feature? I'm having a hard time finding the proper way to enable it.

Thanks in advance
