Print Server - Canon UFRII drivers

Postby rino » Sat Jun 14, 2014 8:06 pm

I searched the forums, but wasn't able to find a response that would suit my needs. I have just finished installing CUPS, and have tried many generic drivers for my Canon ImageClass MF4450 printer, however, no luck yet.

I have been googling, and found a package on ArchLinux:
https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/cndrvcups-lb/

This is supposed to have the drivers that would work with my printer, however, I am lost on how to access that package via pacman. Any help would be greatly appreciated? Does anyone else have MF4450 and has had any success with CUPS, please let me know which driver should I use or how else to access it. I would greatly appreciate your response to either of my queries.

Regards,

That's not accessible from pacman. It's in the real AUR, not our pre-packaged, specially selected portion of the AUR that is the 'aur' repo.

Thanks WarheadsSE. Is there any other way to have it packaged under pacman? These linux drivers are available on Canon US's site and has the deb & ppd files. Can I directly untar the linux drivers onto alARM (PP-E02) and use them - without having to use pacman? If so, how? What should I type and what structure should I follow to untar the files?

Here is the direct link to MF4450 drivers:

Search the Arch wiki for what the AUR is, and how you use it. I can tell you right now, its likley that the manufacturers libs are x86/x86_64 specific.

I tried many different things, but can't find anything on how to use the AUR package :( There are x86/x86_64bit packages, however, there are linux drivers in the source folder as well that has the cndrvcups_lb libraries + ppd files, but I don't know how to install them on archlinuxarm. I tried selecting the driver in my CUPS admin page from the PPD folder, and the printer gets installed, but then it complains about a file missing in the installation - if anyway I can install the whole package, I am sure those files will get installed as well - but unfortunately, I don't know how to do that :(

Someone made packages for HP + Samsung - can someone please make a package for Canon UFRII as well? This would help me utilize my current printer without throwing it away OR atleast guide me on how to do it, and I'll create a package for pacman.
