go flex net "hot swap" sata

Postby Socaltom » Mon Aug 25, 2014 4:40 pm

I'm trying to setup a go flex net for my father. I've got it booting from a USB. Can I boot from USB then plug in sata drives?
Or will it boot from USB with Sata drives plugged in? I'm trying to determine whether I have to be there for the install or if I can mail it to him and install remotely.
Thanks
Tom

With mainline U-Boot my GoFlex Home tries to boot from SATA first. If the SATA drive is absent or if the SATA drive has no /boot/uImage in it's first partition, then it tries to boot from USB. Default environment of the GoFlex Net is the same.

Thanks Hydro,
That helps. I can send him the box, and a bootable usb stick and just have him plug in the drives as needed.
Thanks
