Understood Tom.
The unreliability of the unit working/not working since i first got it working with arch appears to be the out of date uboot i originally installed at the start. Surprised it ever worked. After catching one successfull boot and then running through the final tasks on the official install guide (to flash the nand with a fully up to date one) it now boots, gets the ip and fires up ssh every startup. :)

I'll keep plugging away at getting nfs running with the second partition. Doesnt appear to be a great deal on the forums on that unless youve got a 3TB.

One final question, I'm constantly getting connection refused on ssh after modifying fstab with the sda2 entry to force the mount. I'll try to boot from my rescue drive as uboot appears to be working flawlessly. Any suggestions? Thanks again for your time.

the fstab entry should be
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '/dev/sda1 /boot ext2 noatime, 0 0')

That's copied from mine, so I know it works.

Okay thanks.
I appear to be getting connection refused on ssh every time since adding the fstab. Not sure how that could be related.
Any ideas?

Unless it's mounting the drive read only, you can add the option to mount as read write,?

I had to format and label the partition. I then manually mounted initially and it was auto mounted on subsequent boots.

I've had a fully working unit for around 3 days so far.
Manged to get Samba setup with a few issues remaining. I'll open a separate thread.

Thanks again for all your help.
