I reinstalled linux-headers-dt-kirkwood. Then, linux-headers-dt-kirkwood was uninstalled when I installed linux-headers-dt.

I tried to reinstall cryptodev-dkms at this point, and received the same error again.

The previous post isn't totally clear to me. But,

You need to install linux-kirkwood-dt and linux-kirkwood-dt-headers which will prompt you to remove the linux-kirkwood and linux-kirkwood-headers

Notice the "dt".

After that you need to reboot for the newly installed kernel to boot.

And just to be clear so you don't end up with an unbootable device and in case you weren't running linux-kirowood-dt in the past - do make sure to update the uboot.

Thank for the details moonman. I installed linux-kirkwood-dt and linux-kirkwood-dt-headers.

It looks like I'm already running the latest uboot.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '
warning: uboot-goflexhome-2016.09-1 is up to date -- reinstalling
')

Is that correct? Anything else I should do before a reboot? Thank you!

Well after a reboot, I can no longer access the device via SSH. I don't have local access to the machine, so I can't start a netconsole.

I'm currently running from a USB key with an alternate installation of Arch on it. Any ideas what the issue might be?

install binutils and check the U-Boot version
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'strings /dev/mtd0 | grep U-Boot')

If it matches 2016-09 then it's fine.

Next step would be checking the bootlog via serial or netconsole.

This is what I received after running the strings command

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '

2016.09 is in mtd0 and should be good. Need the bootlog to see why it isn't booting up.

Unfortunately, I just wiped the SATA disk and reinstalled Arch onto it but I can try to recreate the issue once I'm running from the SATA drive again. Right now, with both the USB and the SATA drives connected and an installation of Arch on both devices, the USB device boots first. So I have been connecting remotely via the installation on the USB drive.

What's the best way to boot from SATA first and then from USB? I'd like to leave them both connected, so if SATA doesn't boot I can use the USB to troubleshoot.
