discover ip address w/o router

Does anyone know how I can discover the ip address of my DockStar using my PC (mac) and a crossover cable (or regular cat 5)??

I've looked around and I'm not finding much... I found a port scanner utility, but it's not picking up anything... it looks as though the connection stales on the DockStar side once it discovers it's not on a network?

Any hints?

Or scan your subnet with nmap. Example: nmap -e eth0 -sP 10.3.0.0/24
