GoFlex Net Bricked

Postby wurzelbenutzer » Fri Sep 09, 2011 9:27 pm

I tried to install alarm on a external usb stick of a GoFlex Net.
I reboot and got a new ip (and a new mac.)
Then a tried to set the right ethaddr with ubit_start, but failed.
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '
[root@alarm tmp]# ./ubit_start
No installed UBIT ramdisk could be found.
'ubit_start' needs to be run from the directory containing the UBIT ramdisk
or on a system with a UBIT ramdisk installed either at '/boot/uInitrd' or in
echo a UBIFS partition named 'fast', 'silent' or 'ramdisk'
')
If now switch on the power with no drive in the device, the green led is blinking, but no data on any netcat address.
Any ideas how to proceed?

Were you getting stuff through netcat before?

I don't think anyone has got the ubit console to work the way you launch it in the stock firmware from within alarm. The failed attempt didn't mess with anything though.

You should be able to pop the drive you want to boot from into another Linux box, partition/format ex3, label the partition "rootfs" and extract the v5 rootfs tarball. Cleanly umount, pop it back into the GFN, add power, and you should be booting.
