Longest minute of my life, but I've successfully upgraded to linux-kirkwood as well.

Let me second that this is a noticeable performance upgrade. Switching to the BFQ scheduler also seems to provide a boost for I/O heavy operations (DB load in my case), though I haven't done any water-tight testing.
