HDD crashing after sometime

Now connected with pogoplug.
it was connected by usb with goflex

I would check hdd for any filesystem errors with fsck

What's the output of this: sudo journalctl | grep segfault

Do you have swap? Try disabling journald storage:

Edit: /etc/systemd/journald.conf

Uncomment/change:
Storage=none
ForwardToSyslog=yes
