I tried to compile the xce myself. Right away I get this message:
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'make: *** No rule to make target `../client/common/hbversion.h', needed by `xce_version.h'. Stop.')

What the heck is hbversion? Google points me towards the HandBrake which is the encoding software for video/audio so this must be wrong. Where do I get it?

Nope. It's related to hbwd & hbplug programs.

You don't get it, you make it, and if you look at the line below it in the Makefile, it basically declares it. I've been busy, so I haven't tar'ed it up.

I tried declaring it as well, I guess I didn't do it properly as I ended up with the following:

Ok, i am through the first error. Edit makefile and remove xce_version.h lines and manually create the file xce_version.h with

I wasn't putting 2.0.5.10 in quotation marks, then noticed that compiler complained about the type not being char*

Now I have to figure out this:

It looks like the arch linux headers don't come with mtd-abi.h

Devs, please confirm I didn't mess up anything badly :) and maybe merge this with github pkgbuild. I'll try to compile the kernel with this in the meantime.

You actually don't need to recompile, just create a symlink from /usr/include/mtd to /usr/src/linux-3.1.10-11-ARCH/mtd (I think)

I just copied the mtd folder from the tar. It isn't really permanent solution though as I suppose if mtd-abi.h changes with the kernel then we are onto weird problems.It looks like there are more problems though. I'll look into them when I get home from work.

Ok, further progress: add $this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '#include <linux/slab.h>') to xce_dev.c

Then, in the same xce_dev.c @ line 59 change variable .ioctl to .unlocked_ioctl as it looks like ioctl has been removed from new kernel source. I don't know what this will affect, but now the module compiles. :geek:
