$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('WarheadsSE', 'I') have hit this once or twice, but only when copying hundreds of files.

me, too.

This issue happened to me on both ntfs and ext3 drives, and I found the fix. The problem is with smb.conf in the global section, and something in the following settings fixes it perfectly.

[global]
# log file = /var/log/samba/%m.log
log file = /dev/null
large readwrite = yes
load printers = no
read raw = yes
write raw = yes
aio read size = 4096
socket options = TCP_NODELAY IPTOS_LOWDELAY SO_KEEPALIVE SO_RCVBUF=131072 SO_SNDBUF=131072 SO_KEEPALIVE
dead time = 15
max xmit = 131070
dns proxy = no
oplocks = No
netbios name = USERVER
write cache size = 65536
min receivefile size = 4096
printing = bsd
server string = USERVER
disable netbios = yes
aio write size = 65636
workgroup = WORKGROUP
use sendfile = true
os level = 20
printcap name = /dev/null
security = share
getwd cache = Yes
max log size = 50
disable spoolss = yes
unix extensions = false

I don't know which lines specifically fixed it, I just changed to the above example I found elsewhere and bingo, no more problems. :mrgreen:

Sweet! Good job. My guess is that oplocks = No made the difference. Check your samba status. Seems like some variables are wrong.

I'm a complete noob to all of unix and just following directions, so I don't know where to begin checking samba status other than to see it's working. This is the first time it appears to be fully working.
Copied nearly 200gb while also simultaneously streaming files, write speed was 10MB/s on ntfs. I haven't tried to tune or optimize, have to read where to start with that. Can stream 4 different videos simultaneously to android and windows, while also copying files with no studder or hiccup so it looks good that way.

What do I do to check it though? I think samba is supposed to show in webmin, but it's either not there or I'm not looking in the right place.

Also while I've got you, is there a web monitoring interface for windows or browser that will show usage statistics, cpu load, net traffic and disk activity in realtime so I can watch how it's doing and what it's doing, other than ssh into a command line? Or something else I would find useful like that for remote administration, tuning and monitoring? Maybe there's something I can run in a gui on the system and remote desktop or vnc into it?

I've used munin before but that things is a resource hog. I wouldn't recommend any to be honest not to waste resources that can be used for other things.
