UrbanVoyeur. I don't think I have had boot times that are twice as long. I will time them, when I have some free time. For me the biggest performance factor has been disk read/write times. I didn't see any major differences between the two, may of gotten a bit faster with the Arch kernel. To your comparison of the TP2 to the PogoPlug Pro (black).. The PogoPlug pro should be more responsive and faster (depending on situation) since it has 2 cores versus TP2's single core.

When booting, have you had much luck controlling the leds ? Mine blinks red, and haven't had any luck in changing via /sys/.../leds.

No luck so far. According to this script on the base Debian rootfs: /root/app/tonido/plugscripts/ledcontrol.sh

It appears the commands are different for the Plug2 and it looks like the stuff here in Arch ( /sys/devices/platform/leds-gpio/leds/plugs/plug:red:misc/trigger ) is set up for the old plug.

The LED control on TP2 Debian works as:
Power/error LED's off: pwrctl -o 503 <ENTER> pwrctl -o 603
Steady Blue: pwrctl -o 502
Steady Red: pwrctl -o 602
Blinking Blue: pwrctl -o 504
Blinking Red/Blue: pwrctl -o 504 <ENTER> pwrctl -o 604

The LEDs defined in /sys are populated based on GPIO numbers in the machine init code, and I'm not all that surprised that the TP2 doesn't match the Sheeva eSATA. If you know or figure out the pinouts for the LEDs, it wouldn't be hard to duplicate another board file and patch it in with the others.

I'm struggling with accessing the GPIO's from bash.
echo 38 > /sys/class/gpio/export

Give me an error:
-bash: echo: write error: Invalid argument

Where am I going wrong? Do I need a drive file first?

Per a note in their forum, Codelathe has release the tonidoplug2 kernel source code at <http://www.tonidoplug.com/partners/topkick/kernel/source/kernel-2.6.31-topkick1281p2-codelathe-20111122.tar.bz2>. Does that help getting a fully functional archlinux kernel?

What exactly isn't functioning aside from LEDs?

Nothing as far as I can tell. Everything I tested worked fine.
