So I'm just wondering, what is /boot/uInitrd supposed to be? Because it's not contained in the tar I used for my filesystem and at the point of realizing there is not one present is where uboot seems to get hung up. It might be nothing, as you can probably tell I'm kind of new to this, but is it at all important?

It is only important if you want to use one. We don't supply one by default.

Alright well I've switched back to the latest image now (hence the lack of uInitrd) and I still don't know what's wrong. U-boot seems to just stop at loading uImage. I don't know what's really wrong, because I'm not really that familiar with u-boot, but I think my printenv looks alright. Is there something I'm missing? Because I still don't know what I should be doing to fix this.

arcNumber is wrong. Either using serial or netconsole interrupt boot process and enter:

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'setenv arcNumber 3089
saveenv
reset')

Sata port is not recognized by the kernel because the arcnumber is wrong.

Thank you guys for being so patient. I've changed the arcNumber to 3089 as per your instructions, but it appears my goflex still gets hung up at $this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'Loading file "/boot/uImage" from ide device 0:1 (hda1)') I'm not sure what's wrong, but it basically just stalls there.

I would check the hdd for errors and try to boot from a USB drive instead.

FYI, you don't need to go through the full effort of disabling IPv6 to make IPv4 addresses preferred...

http://askubuntu.com/questions/32298/pr ... v6-lookups

In short, uncomment precedence ::ffff:0:0/96 100 in /etc/gai.conf and poof, problem solved.
