Re: [How-To] update DStar/PP/GFlex to new uBoot for kernel>3

Postby moonman » Sat Dec 15, 2012 11:11 am

There's nothing wrong with youboot, but kernel is doing something weird. It looks like it's trying to mount internal NAND as root. This behavior should have been fixed with kernel 3.1.10-14.

Try this in netconsole:

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'setenv sata_root '/dev/sdb1'
saveenv
reset')

and see if it boots up

to revert the changes after you upgrade the kernel in netconsole:
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'setenv sata_root '/dev/sda1'
saveenv
reset')

Note: reset means restart and not reset settings.

Make a bootable flashdrive on your computer, format it as ext2, remove sata hdd and try to boot with the flash drive. Instructions are in my signature.

Hold on I think I know what the problem is. arcNumber is not right

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'setenv arcNumber 3338
setenv sata_root '/dev/sda1'
saveenv
reset')

See if this works before you go and create your usb bootable stick

interrupt the uboot and show the output of "printenv"

Re: [How-To] update DStar/PP/GFlex to new uBoot for kernel>3

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('moonman', 'H')old on I think I know what the problem is. arcNumber is not right

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'setenv arcNumber 3338
setenv sata_root '/dev/sda1'
saveenv
reset')

See if this works before you go and create your usb bootable stick

And this worked!! Thank you very much!!! Please add fw_setenv arcNumber '3338' to instructions.

This number was supposed to be set long before you got to upgrading U-Boot, but I will add it just in case.
