My guess is that you formatted the main drive instead of the flash drive... well... now you have to get bootup linux on your computer. You don't have to install it, just bootup it up from the disk. It will be easier since it will actually have gui. You can use my instructions linked in the signature. After you get it to boot you will have to skip a couple of things in my second post, and add a couple of other ones. Let me know when it's done. When you get it to boot, I can do it for you if you like, if you give me access to your plug.

The drive wasn't formatted. Everything is fine so long as the flash drive isn't inserted at the time of boot. Revisited all the steps, no change. I'm fairly certain that my system is incapable of booting from usb devices, it also still cannot read fully from disk. I'll see if I can get it to work though. The flash drive type shouldn't affect anything should it? It is a 2gb Officemax drive.

Re-downloading an install, as I thought when I looked through my boot config settings, unable to boot from usb media. Download will take about an hour. Can you access the plug without me having linux booted?

It should be able to boot from usb. Yes I can since archlinux arm is linux. You would just have to forward a port in your router to an IP of the plug. Port #22, TCP

For those of you following along at home, moonman and I are still tumbling down the rabbit hole. We'll keep you updated on any success, and hopefully - hopefully. A what not to do list. So far I can add to it, if your first name is Ric, do not attempt this project alone.
