NFS V4 and preserving permissions

Postby AndrewWArchLinux » Wed Jul 27, 2016 6:26 am

Had to rebuild the goflex home after a disk failure.
I took the opportunity to enable NFSv4 by default as well. I cant however get the exports file to works correctly
While I know NFS does not fully support permissions It used to work better than it does
when ever i run a cp -p source dest from a client as root (which i need to use for backups) the client is unable to set the permissions

my exports file entry is
/srv/nfs4/data 1.2.3.4(rw,all_squash,async,no_subtree_check,insecure,crossmnt,anonuid=1000,anongid=1000,nohide)

if i change the anon uid and gid to 0 (i.r toot) it works, but does not feel secure.

any ideas of the correct entries

Many Thanks
