Overview of boot process

Could someone explain, for a newbie, how the boot process works on a GoFlex Home dock?

Given that I followed the instructions here:- https://archlinuxarm.org/platforms/armv ... oflex-home and had the system working at one time, I removed the disk that was attached and now I don't really know what state it is in.

Presumably I can boot from a USB stick, but what do I need on that USB stick?

You need the extracted rootfs
