reboot vs shutdown now -h

Postby chadr » Sat Aug 13, 2011 11:36 pm

I've found that a reboot often won't allow my pogo to boot back up. Seems I have to unplug it to reset something.

So now I've been doing shutdown now -h, wait a bit, unplug, replug.

What is causing the pogo not to like reboot?

The "shutdown now -h" command "halts" your computer (i.e. shutdown, not reboot).

use "-r" instead of "-h", like this:

shutdown -r now

That should reboot your computer instead of shutting it down.

Reboot does not allow pogo to boot back up.

Not a big deal because I rarely reboot.

Shutdown now -h works as expected.

I just used "shutdown -r now" on my PogoPlug v2 today .. twice! Both times it came back up fine.

So, it definitely DOES work. I don't use reboot too much .. so you might try the shutdown -r command to see if that works for you.

And, I would agree that "shutdown -h" shutting down your computer and not rebooting it does indeed work as designed and expected (since that is it's function).
