Need help re-gaining access to dockstar

Postby churro89 » Wed Oct 26, 2011 5:00 pm

I am posting because after hours of searching, I couldn't find any posts that seem to solve my issue. All the posts I read regarding reflashing requires SSH access.

I'm kind of a Linux noob. I got to step 3 of the CUPS install guide, and had to unplug my Dockstar because I realized it was too far away from my printer (facepalm).

Then when I plugged it back in closer to my printer, I can no longer SSH into it (Connection refused). Device boots up and light is solid green, as it always was.

How can I access the device again?

* I am ok with reformatting / reflashing, or recovery of current OS.
* I have an ubuntu machine to mess with the flash drive, if need be.
* I have the original mtd backups.

You just need to plug your root drive into another linux box and fsck it. You can't just pull the power on an ext2 drive, it corrupts things.
Arch Linux ARM exists and continues to grow through community support, please donate today!

can someone detail the steps? I am totally new on this and was able to just follow directions to get arch linux installed with samba but the other day I pulled the plug and now no longer can ssh.

Download ubuntu live cd, plug in your hdd to pc. Openup terminal, unmount the hdd with "sudo umount /dev/sdx" x=a b c?(use "mount" to see the exact path for your hdd) then do "sudo e2fsck /dev/sdx" . "man e2fsck" for more options. I think -p key will will do autofix without asking you questions, cant remember from the top of my head
