[resolved] ALARM install on E02 without SSH

Postby firefoxPL » Thu Feb 09, 2012 7:56 am

Hi, I currently own a Pogo-P24 and I've stumbled upon a possibility to buy used pink v2 (Pogo-E02) for about 10 euro, but the person who is selling it doesn't know anything about whether it's registered with pogoplug, or does it have ssh enabled. So I assume that there won't be a SSH access for me, therefore I was wondering if there is a possibility to install ALARM using serial port to manipulate uBoot and maybe reflash the memory? Also does the E02 have any SATA connection or does it only depend on USB drives?

Pogo-P24 (new Pogoplug Classic) - ALARM on SATA (mediatomb, netatalk, avahi, time machine, swap, openvpn)
Pogo-E02 (v2 Pink) - ALARM on USB (netatalk, avahi, cryptodev-linux, getting ready for L2TP)

I'll answer this question. Once.

The E02 is a marvell kirkwood platform, and, its the "original" pink aka V2 (see the spec on the site)

Also, it is amazing what contacting the support of pogoplug can get you when you purchase a device second hand.

Sounds like You're loosing patience with some of my questions :)
After looking up specs for v2 and v3 on the main site I've figured there is no SATA, but still asking to confirm doesn't hurt - at least that's what I believe ;)
As for the SSH problem, I figured that support may answer me with "ask previous owner to unregister the pogo", but from what You say I suspect that in case of a problem, they might be able and willing to reset the device remotely - am I getting that right?

If the device has never been modified/used, then it's as simple as hooking it up and trying to register it.

If that doesn't work, contact support @ pogoplug, and tell them you bought it second hand and can't register it because it isn't detected. They'll ask for the CESVCID (that huge # on the bottom) ... this all on their forums ;)

Or you can just hook up a serial port and not care :geek:

Psst.
