I'm looking for a cheap NAS and I was wondering if PogoPlug with Linux installed is reasonable for streaming movies and things?
I tried a USB router running Tomato and the transfer speeds (due to the router hardware limitations) were horrendous.

Have you read around the forums? There are a lot of reports of what we do with our plugs. I stream video over my local network.

What I am looking for is typical transfer speeds for this device on a Samba share, assuming no other bottlenecks (gigabit switch, etc)... and no, I haven't seen that on this forum or elsewhere.

I'm seeing ~30MB/s using the E02 (Pogoplug v2).

I stream 480 & 720 mkvs throughout my house via 802.11n, xenoxaos streams 1080 mkvs via GbE .. no problems.
