[Goflex Net] Unable to flash

Postby audiocrush » Wed Mar 14, 2012 3:45 am

Hello guys,

I finally got my goflex net.
While I followed the tutorial over here:
http://archlinuxarm.org/platforms/armv5 ... goflex-net
I lost SSH-access after the first instructed reboot.
For a newbie to serial consoles it was a bit of a mess to find out how to get a working serial connection to the goflex without a serial port on my workstation :P
http://www.nerdsh.org/?p=29
Now I get always stuck when I try to read the uImage-mtd1.img.
This command:
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'ext2load usb 0:1 0x800000 /uImage-mtd1.img')
Should do it.. but somehow it starts to copy the image, i can also see some activity on the usb flashdrive or the usb-hdd I'm using... but after two or three seconds the activity-indicator stops flashing and there's also no more serial outputs...
I tried this several times, checked the filesystems on my devices reformatted them, made md5 checks of the images... nothing could help me out.

If anyone knows what I'm doing wrong... please help me :P

Have tried removing all drives, and booting that way?

Also.. netconsole would have saved you some trouble..

how can I get netconsole access when it doesn't request my dhcp for an IP address?
or has it a default backup-IP ?
If yes, what is it?

netconsole uses UDP, which emits to the pre-configured IPs, listed on the Advanced tab of the installation page.

oh okay
*whoop**whoop*
nice :)

and... how is this gonna help me then?
Netconsole is just a replacement for serial access isn't it?
or are there more options for recovery?

*edit*
okay now I checked out that ominous netconsole and it basically seems like a serial over ip connection, am I right?
I also only have access to U-Boot @ 10.10.10.5 6666
when I try to gather data from kernel or dhcp I get no outputs, what seems quite logical to me because there is no kernel to load and without a kernel it can't run a dhcp client :P

I tried to load the uImage-mtd1.img again... but there are still the same symptoms :(

sry for the doublepost but I'm not sure if the forum marks a thread as "unread post inside" when it was edited :P

Where is uImage-mtd1.img from?

Oh right, debian. ;)

Anyways, now that you are in, can we get a log of you attempting to follow those steps?

I also checked the md5, it was correct.

mmh where are those logfiles stored and how can I get them out of the system?
