Download speed limit capped with PogoPlug?

Postby evhoria » Fri Apr 06, 2012 3:47 am

My PogoPlug seems to have a capped speed limit downloading files from the internet and even from local machines. I'm using deluge and ProFTP to test. Every time I download a file into PogoPlug, the max speed I get is 3 MB/s. When I upload a file from PogoPlug to another machine, I'm able to get 10 MB/s. I don't think this is a network issue. Is this an expected behavior with PogoPlug? If so, are there any work around to increase the download speed?

look at the CPU load when you download/upload. If it's at 100% then there is your cap.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('WarheadsSE', 'W')hat is the file system on the destination drive @ the pogoplug?

I'm using ext2. I still need to figure out how to convert it to ext3 to avoid file corruption.

BTW - Yes download uses 100% CPU. Good call on that. Why does that happen for download but not upload? Is there any way around that?

Are you using SFTP/FTPS ?

I'm using SFTP. The CPU download performance is not exclusive to the FTP server. I also have deluge running and I am experiencing the same issue when I have torrents downloading.

So you are using ProFTPD to do SFTP ... instead of just sshd?

Does deluge do anything cryptographic ?

ProFTPD is setup to the defaults as of now. I'm not sure if deluge is doing any cryptographic.

Deluge does crypto either way because many people on the other end require encryption. You may want to install openssl-cryptodev

I put cryptodev on my device and the CPU% went way down. I would recomend it to anyone.
