First can't mount cifs, then goflex stopped responding

Postby Snerler » Mon Jun 25, 2012 3:58 am

I updated and rebooted by Goflex Home after after it has been powered on for over a month and now I'm having issues that I didn't have before... The first problem is that my cifs network drives in fstab weren't mounting on boot. However manually mounting worked.

I came across a forum thread "Can't mount cifs unit after update to kernel 3.4.2.2"
https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=1120290
where people seem to have the same problem, but my kernel version was 3.1.x.x. Is anybody else experiencing a problem with mounting network shares after updating?

My much bigger problem is that i rebooted a few times due to the fstab mounting issue until the Goflex suddenly stopped responding to ssh altogether. The LED is green and my router can detect the device still... What can i do to recover?

I would check rootfs for errors on another machine.
For mounting cifs you can try putting something like this
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '/bin/mount -t cifs -o username=nobody,password="" //192.168.1.111/Files/FIles /media/Storage/MyMount
')
in /etc/rc.local
