Pogoplug mobile SSH after ALinux install

Postby kidder78 » Fri Sep 28, 2012 7:56 am

Hi

I followed the steps to install alarm on my pogoplug mobile using v4 instructions.

Everything seemed to go fine, after reboot light goes solid green and pogo shows up on router as alarm under the same ip address as previous for install.

My problem is I cannot SSH into my pogo since installation completed. Error code is Network error: Connection refused.

Any help would be appreciated.Thank You

Is it still showing up on http://my.pogoplug.com?

Can you verify that ssh is still enabled through that site?

The fact that the hostname changed shows that it has been changed away from that dabsub. Thanks though.

Derp. That one was pretty obvious. Sorry.

What about an IP conflict? Does Arch use dhcp by default? Maybe you can change the router config to give the plug a static IP, one that's way different from anything on your network.

What about connection rate limits? Is the sshd set to allow a certain number of attempts per minute?

How you're trying to connect, from what system located where using what soft? Any port forwarding on a router required?

Mount your USB thumb's FS on another Linux system, and make sure SSH is installed and configured properly, and SSHD daemon is set to run at startup.

It is, by default as part of the install of Arch Linux ARM.

Having the same issue. Everything goes exactly as indicated throughout the install process. When I get to final step and do the soft reboot as per the v4 instructions, the device reboots and the SSH session disconnects. I am then unable to initiate a new SSH session, it just times out. Tried a hard reboot by unplugging, per the notes at the bottom of the v4 instructions. Still has the same problem upon rebooting. The indicator lights on the device would seem to suggest that everything has gone correctly (it goes through its initialization process and then the light turns solid green), but SSH attempts fail. I can see it in the device table on my router (as previous poster said, with the same IP address as before). Double-checked port forwarding and any other firewall protocol within the router that would impede connection, though this seems unlikely anyway as there was no problem connecting via SSH before installing ARM. What am I missing?

I was slightly wrong. I thought that the Pogo was showing up in the Device Table, but refreshing that table was not really refreshing it. After rebooting the router, it no longer shows up as a device in the table. So apparently I can't SSH into the device because when I rebooted it, it stopped connecting to my network? Thoughts? Or feel free to point me toward a page where this is addressed, if there is one -- I looked and couldn't find one.

Remove your thumb, reboot to original Pogo system on Nand, plug the thumb again - it's FS should automount. Then chroot to it and follow Configuring Network guide to see if anything needs adjustment.
