[SOLVED] linux-kirkwood missing media modules

Postby pennguin » Sat Oct 27, 2012 9:44 pm

After upgrade to kirkwood-3.6.2 (goflex net), I'm missing all media kernel modules (especially dvb). I can see that this commit with upgrade to 3.6.2 has removed all media modules from kernel config. Can I ask way? Is this a known change and I should now compile my own kernel with dvb support and there will be no modules for media in official build?

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'pennguin@zlomek ~ % ls /lib/modules/`uname -r`/kernel/drivers/media
ls: cannot access /lib/modules/3.6.2-0-ARCH/kernel/drivers/media: No such file or directory
pennguin@zlomek ~ % uname -a
Linux zlomek 3.6.2-0-ARCH #1 PREEMPT Tue Oct 16 16:33:54 UTC 2012 armv5tel GNU/Linux
pennguin@zlomek ~ % pacman -Qs linux-kirkwood

It looks like there was a big reworking of where those all live in the kernel, when I did a make oldconfig it didn't (and wouldn't) say anything about the old module names going away, and I normally don't enable new stuff at random. Get me a list of what you want to see and I'll roll it into the next update. Seeing as 3.6.4 landed it'll probably go live tomorrow assuming I don't get completely swamped at work?

I hope they fixed the ext4 data corruption bug in 3.6.4: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=151341

Based on the changelog they did, which is why I've been waiting for it to drop.

Thanks, you are doing great work! :) From my side I would really love to see dvb_usb_it913x (CONFIG_DVB_USB_IT913X, CONFIG_DVB_IT913X_FE; with dependencies of course).

Anyway it is a shame that these modules disappeared with make old_config...

I just posted an update to linux-kirkwood, bumping it to 3.6.4 and bringing in as many media modules as made sense. (I didn't bother with any PCI/PCIe only devices, if that's wrong let me know and I'll roll those in next.) Hopefully it'll get built by the farm in the next 24 hours.
