PPv4: USB ports

Postby winestock » Sat Nov 17, 2012 3:15 pm

One thing I have noticed about plugging a USB flash drive into a USB port on the Pogoplug series 4 is that after a while the flash drive feels hot to the touch. Makes me think that the heat is going to destroy the flash drive. Why do the USB ports get so hot? What effect will this have on non-bus powered hard drives plugged into the USB ports?

Just put ram heatsinks on it, it'll be alllllll fine

But seriously, I highly doubt your PPV4 is going to bake your thumb drive unless you have a very cheap thumb drive.
