Bricked?

Postby cadteach » Sun Dec 30, 2012 7:17 pm

OK, so I think I made a mistake identifying my pogoplug. I bought it at OfficeDepot, it looks like a POGO V4, but it doesn't have the removable top, only has 1 USB port and a SDHC card slot on the side.

The sticker says model: POGO-V4-A1-04 , but it looks the same as the POGO-V4-A1-01, the UPC code is 850877002290.

Anyway, I followed the install instructions for the V4, but didn't have the USB in the top port, as there is only one top port.

Everything seemed to go fine, the install completed, but when I reboot, I get only a flashing green light. When I plug the usb drive into my other desktop, it doesn't read, so I think I made need a new USB, formatted and with the Uboot installed, but no idea how to do this from a Desktop machine. I can't SSH into the pogo, as all connections are refused, probably because it doesn't boot off the USB drive.

Any idea how to porceed? Any way to format a new USB drive with UBoot off of a desktop?

OK, so I think I may now have it booting, but not registering with a dhcp when plugged into the router. It doesn't show any devices listed on my router, but I no longer have the flashing green light on the POGO.

The POGO starts as flashing green, the USB flashes a few seconds, then the pogo changes to solid green. I'm attached to the network physically (Ethernet) but it doesn't seem to get a IP address?

If you can ssh into the stock firmware, I'd be curious what cat /proc/cpuinfo shows.

Ok, that's a lie, I wouldn't know what I was looking at if it hit me in the face with a baseball bat, but WarheadSE will.

If it boots without a USB, its a kirkwood ;)

The answer, in the end, however, is I would love an output from /usr/sbin/fw_printenv
